Kioku (記憶) means "memory" in Japanese. We're on a mission to ensure that no engineering team ever loses the "why" behind their code.
Our Story
Every engineering team has experienced it: a critical production issue, and the one person who knew why the system was designed that way left the company six months ago. Hours are spent digging through Slack threads, closed PRs, and meeting recordings trying to piece together the reasoning behind a decision made years ago.
We built Kioku because we lived this problem. As engineers at fast-growing startups, we watched teams repeatedly lose critical context — not because they didn't make good decisions, but because those decisions were never captured in a way that was searchable and persistent.
Traditional documentation tools require manual effort and discipline. They quickly go stale. Kioku takes a different approach: it goes where decisions already happen — Slack discussions, GitHub PR reviews, team meetings — and automatically structures them into searchable Architecture Decision Records.
